In the previous blog I waxed poetic about the fantastic mix of classic and contemporary design as the perfect combo for today’s modern lifestyle.
A brief reminder: contemporary design pushes the blissful “less is more” philosophy, while classic design finds its roots in the creation of order, balance, and harmony. A brilliant, "when stars align", combination, if you ask me!
Now on to the fun part. Look below for my guide to transforming your home into the perfect classic-meets-contemporary space.

» Antiques: Just one or two! A beautiful antique hutch on a large wall can be the main focal point in a space especially if you don’t have a fireplace in your living room or in a dining room it can provided some much needed storage
» A Wall Collage: Mount family images in ornate frames (as pictured above). The detail in the frames will stand out and be appreciated in the room and images of those you love will give the space emotional warmth.
» Lighting: This is the best way to accent with a classic piece. Crystal chandeliers are beautiful and in the right setting can be appreciated without making a room feel overdone. They add elegance and may companies are making crystal fixtures that are affordable. For options, check out Patina in store, which happens to have some gorgeous crystal pendants right now. Another, cheaper option is IKEA. They shouldn’t be out of your price range—you just have to hunt!
Remember that your ultimate goal is to go home to a place that is grounded and centered. This change in atmosphere makes all the difference in your mood and your life.
